A RESOURCE FOR DISTRICT ENERGY DEVELOPMENT
Our partners and champion cities have decades of experience in planning, coordinating, financing and incentivising district energy systems around the world. Disseminating this experience is an important task and we combine this with the ongoing results and lessons of the District Energy in Cities Initiative's work in pilot countries and cities.
The Initiative began its global work synthesising a city methodology and evidence-base for district energy development from insights provided over 150 interviews and surveys and 45 champion city case studies. The initiative has used this methodology to engage 63 partners to support 44 cities across 14 countries to develop district energy systems.
This wiki-style Virtual Platform is a collection of institutional knowledge and lessons learned with contributions from our partners, champion cities and UN Environment Programme. This include knowledge products, trainings, webinars, case studies, best practices, tools and methodologies. The wiki is split into three main sections:
